do you have a Smart-Media-Card-Slot in your PC?

Therefore you could try, whether you have access to the data of your Smart-Media-Card. If there are problems, I think your Smart-Media-Card is damaged.

If there are no problems, you should open your MSX Multistation and check, if there are lightly adhering cable inside, or a cold solder joint.
